Rundown

This afternoon I went for a great trail run with Dave and John at Fort Ben. It was relaxing to run an easy pace and catch up with other. We talked about races we would all like to do, including some new ones coming up that could be interesting. There was also some talk of doing adventure races this year... interesting indeed! We all agreed that we are going to try to get together more frequently for our long runs. Its amazing how much easier a run seems when you have good conversation.

After getting home and taking a nice hot shower to warm myself up from the 20 degree run, I relaxed with Eldon and a good book. The last 2 weeks have been very hectic for me between work and planning a conference in Bloomington, so this run was exactly what my mind and body needed.

Good Bye Smells

I got a sample of the new Pro Wash activewear detergent thats made specifically for workout clothes a few months ago and thought I 'd try it out. I din't really know much about it, but I had not had good luck with getting the smell and general funk out of our workout clothes, and after years of trying every suggestion known to mankind, I think I may have found the solution. I have tried double washing, soaking, woolite and even baking soda and not one of them really worked. Its not like you can use fabric softener on synthetic fabrics (it clogs the wick-away properties of the material) and if you use too much regular detergent, you risk foaming up when you run in the rain. No, really, it has happened!

I love it! My clothes smell awesome, it got some grungy stains out and I love that the packaging is more eco friendly than traditional plastic. From the ProWash website:
Stand up Pouches have 9X less effect on the earth than plastic bottles:
9X less warehouse space required
9X less landfill space consumed
9X less fuel consumption
9X less consumption of wood for pallets and paper for corrugate
Pouches use only 40% of the plastic of the same size rigid bottle

I'm all about making a difference, no matter how small, for the environment. Plus, it comes with a 100% money back guarantee. No one else does that! Its sold at Walmart, so its pretty inexpensive and available to the masses. Check it out!

Happy Groundhog Day!

My favorite movie is 'Groundhog Day,' starring Bill Murray. I could care less about watching an animal "predict" the weather every February 2nd, but the Groundhog Day movie marathon gets my attention! I have seen this movie more times that I can count and have it memorized. Its a classic! I remember watching it for the 1st time with my dad, and I try to call him everytime I see the movie is on tv.
The film takes place in Punxsutawney, PA, and is about a disgruntled weather man who is forced to repeat the same day over and over and over again. Every day starts at 6:00 am with the same song on his clock radio but his actions make the outcome of the day different every time. He kills himself several different ways, learns about all the town's people and in perhaps the best scene ever, steals teh groundhog. Punxsutawney Phil & Phil the weather man go for a ride, when Phil says "[to the groundhog] Don't drive angry." CLASSIC! More fun info about the movie is here: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Groundhog_Day
I hope your weather is good, no matter where you are! Happy Groundhog Day!
