It's cold in the mornings

Even though its been awesome weather here, our new tile floor is still cold in the mornings. Ahhh, the joys of being on a slab. I looked everywhere for a before pic of our bathroom, but had no luck, so all you get to see is Keith's handiwork. He ripped up the linoleum, tore off the trim and quarter round with no help from me, thank goodness. I love that the project was all him!

I have been outside even more than often with the warm weather we have been having. My runs have been longer and faster, and my mileage is creeping up towards the 20 miles per week range, which makes me smile. I have some runs scheduled with my girlfriends and their babies, and I love pushing the baby jogger. Great times for great weather.

Happy Workouts

Keith has been a busy guy! The past few months he has finished all sorts of home projects, big and small. Trim & quarter round in the living room, touching up all my orange paint mistakes on the kitchen ceiling, new lighting fixtures in both bathrooms and a new tile floor in the master bathroom (pics coming soon) are just a few. It seems like every day there is something new!! Most recently, he decided to paint our weight room. What a difference it makes! Weight room before... pale green walls and a very tired Eldon.
After... a bright, cheery place to work out in. It makes long workouts a little easier mentally. Thanks Keith!

A weekend of firsts

Its our 1st 'girls' run of the year, with a new little one in attendance! It seems like not too long ago, Jamie, Holly and I went on our 1st run with baby Dilyn. Now, Dilyn is almost 2 and baby Madison is 4 months old and ready for some running and chatting.

It has been in the 60's in Indiana this week and we decided to head to the Monon for a run/walk Saturday morning. It was so busy! We ran about 3 miles and walked an additional 2 miles off and on. The kids were so good! Madison played with her toy and joined in the conversation towards the end. Dilyn read books, played with her baby and checked out the scenery. It was so fun to hang out with my girlfriends and their daughters, starting another fun tradition with them.

Sunday, Dave and I went for a run on the Fall Creek Trail, which I hadn't been on in more than a year. The day originally called for a chance of severe weather including hail, which isn't the best running weather, but turned out almost perfect. We had 65 degrees with overcast skies and some wind, but no rain at all. Our short run of 3-4 miles turned into 7 (another 1st for the year... my 1st true long run)! We kept a good pace and just talked the miles away. We saw and ran a bit with my old Bricks-to-Bricks coach, Alex, who told us he is 56 years old now and on a 'short' run of 15 miles for the day with a total for the week of 90 miles. Yikes! He is training for the Boston Marathon, coming up in 6 weeks, and his goal is to finish in under 3 hours. 3 hours. At 56 years old. If that doesn't impress you, well, I almost fell over. It was really nice to chat with him and Dave.

I am looking forward to the coming weeks and hoping the weather stays mild. Having the windows open has made the house lose its stuffy winter feel and motivated me to spring clean. Coming soon... pics of the renovations Keith has done in his down time.

March is here!

In like a lion, out like a lamb... March is here. Its great running weather for the most part - cold mornings and semi-cold afternoons. I have been running in the 16 degree weather a lot recently, so when it warms up to 34, I feel a little warm. Go figure.

I've been trying to hit the trails with Dave on weekends and have finally got back to my lunchtime weight sessions. Running during the week has been scarce, but I am getting a lot of other things done around the house and have finished several good books.

March is when most of the races start back up and while I don't know which ones I will be doing this year, I am stalking the schedule to see what I can fit in. I need to get some longer runs in before I do any races, but I can't do that until I pick up my running on weekdays. Its a never ending cycle! Bring on the Spring!!
